Replicating the work done on the other end, the no. 2 end receives the same treatment this week. The cut-outs for the mounts for the route indicator disks are obvious in the photo below. This time next week the mounts will be welded in and painted and this time in a year no-one will even remember the effort we went to with such a minor detail.
The Drivers' instrument panel has been stripped and painted in primer ready for re-installation when the cab is ready. The 'Air Only' reference applies to the donor loco and not to the Baby Deltic. Ironically, the donor was air brake only (vacuum isolated), the original Baby Deltics were vacuum only and the recreated loco will be dual braked. Make your mind up....
Similar treatment, different base material for these cab light mounts.
In between other jobs the body repairs and mods get tidied up, filled and painted. No. 2 end cab gets some love in this photo.
