The work on the loco this week involved a load of inaction and messing about for very little return. Ages ago we dropped the compressors and exhausters into the loco to get an accurate idea of the space envelope for their installation (it fits on the drawing, etc.). This was great at the time but they were in the way of bulkhead repairs and the removal of unwanted traction motor cableways. They're out now and will be cleaned thoroughly and tested before reinstallation properly sometime in Spring.

The roof is seen here ready to go back on, one of the exhausters can be seen on the right and the compressors on the left of the photo.

One exhauster and one compressor seen just after removal. The table structure is for the top compressor. The exhausters are mounted side-by-side and the compressors one on top of the other.

While we were messing about 37057 came to say hello. It couldn't though because it's a loco and it can't talk.
