Pictures of locos always go down well so here's two, one real and one in CAD.
It is easy to have a idea about building a loco - you can describe it as 'kitbashing in full-size', you can describe it as just a 'cut-and-shut', you can describe it as whatever you want. When all is said and done someone has to have the wherewithal actually to do it. In the case of the Baby Deltic Project, this 'someone' is a tiny group who regularly commit to doing whatever they can to help realise the dream.
It seems a long time ago now that we installed and ran a Napier 9-29 engine in 37372 and sometimes it seems a long time until we can look forward to seeing it run again in D5910. There can be no doubt now that we are significantly closer to the end than we are to the start. We're never going to answer the perpetual question of 'when' because no plan stands contact with the enemy but we can look at what we've achieved this year.
In the last 12-months we have installed the overhauled bogies, installed the power unit, sorted the handbrake design and today I have ordered the laser cut parts to complete the fuel tank and its mountings.
Thanks for your support.
