It's the third report of cutting out bodysides, starting three weeks' ago with the (dummy) grille for the (non-existent) boiler the bodyside window immediately below it and all of it's friends have joined it. The photo below shows the grille (now painted in dark grey undercoat) and the template ready for tacking to the body prior to plasma-cutting the aperture. The line is the datum for all the bodyside apertures which is derived from the 'sill' of the cabside droplight windows.

After cutting and after the template has been removed. The plate will remain like this for a while, there's no real point in cutting a hole just yet, we've got the glass ready to go in but it'll get dirty / scratched at the moment.

Meanwhile the other side of the loco has had the same treatment, this is the B side at no. 2 end. Two windows and both grilles cut out.

Three windows and two grille apertures cut out and primed. The other marked area is for the bodyside door which uses the same template as for the grilles but cut down slightly. Note also that the marked area for the grilles is different to the actual cut area, this was because the marked area was an estimation for appearance purposes - the grilles are in the correct place....

The easiest method of accessing the other side of the loco is to turn it - a ten minute job because of the convenience of having a turntable on site. It takes longer for the shunt loco to build up its air than it takes to turn the loco. This is A side prior to the loco being turned, our allocated road is to the right of the loco.
