The massive amount of cleaning and painting on the underframe has now been completed. Virtually the work of one man and having consumed almost all of the effort since the return to work this commitment cannot be understated - and nobody will see it.

The Power Unit mountings have been fully-welded in now. These were tacked in last year and have remained in position waiting for time to be able to weld them in 'properly'. The photo below shows the engine end mounts closest to the camera complete with an alignment jig to ensure the correct centre positioning. What isn't clear on the photo is the laser line across the pointed parts of the jig which indicate the longitudinal centre of the loco.


The generator end mounts are furthest from the camera and feature a nice laser-cut triangle as a representation of our logo.


The lateral centre line of the loco is the edge (quite by coincidence) of the strengthening member in the bedplate - the two yellow triangles identify the c/l.

A detail close up of the left side engine mount. NDT yet to be done, don't write in......
