The (temporary) installation of the outer skin for the cabs a few months ago has enabled the manufacture and (temporary) installation of the hardwood framework which carries the inner skins and droplight seals.
The photo above is no. 1 end secondman's side and the photo below is the driver's side. The wagon in the background was the source of the wood used for the frames - this is a joke, do not write in.
Once cut the the right size and fully-prepared the wood will be treated with an intumescent sealer and varnish for fire and rot protection.
Underneath the loco, work to install the centre bracket between the fuel and water tanks is finished now. The photo below shows the bottom part of the bracket after Dye-Pen testing - complete with a small flaw which is now ground out, rewelded and retested.
