You've never seen it look like this before.....
As part of Barrow Hill's "Shine a Light" event this week the loco has been used as a projection screen. Seen below is the test image used during the set up to ensure that the multiple images are aligned properly and evenly distributed. Behind the colours is an image taken from our GA drawing of the loco, the upshot of which is that we appear to have built a loco which is the same as the drawing - a second example within a month of something fitting 'on the drawing' and fitting 'in real life'!
Delivered this week are the parts which will be built up into the bodyside grilles. Thanks go to Charles Day Steel of Sheffield for their attention to detail and impressive timescale. These have been laser cut and bent to shape by them, reducing by an order of magnitude the fabrication time for a fairly simple but highly repetitive assembly.
Double danger. More history uncovered this week as the engine room doors have been rubbed back to reveal two differing signwriting styles used during the donor locos life.
Finally, another loco photo with some of the kit needed to project images.
